Burton Waters Residents Group

All Residents, Businesses, Tenants, Renters, or Leaseholders on the whole Burton Waters (BW)site can join Burton Waters Residents Group (BWRG). It’s free.

BWRG has as its key purpose “Working Together for a Better Community”. It was established in 2016 and was accepted as a Recognised Tenants Association (RTA) by the Freeholder in 2019.

Membership is obtained simply by email or letter to Burton Waters Residents Group <info@bwrg.org.uk> expressing a wish to join and giving an address on BW and an email.

BWRG exists to promote the wellbeing and quality of life of all BW people, residential and commercial, who own, lease, or reside in any of the several developments which are included in BW.

It is the legally designated RTA for the residential properties and businesses to the left of the entrance roundabout including Marina Court i.e. those within the gated area and those bordered by Park Lane and Burton Lane End. It represents them on matters of common interest and seeks to maintain the quality of the BW environment.

BWRG promotes good-neighbourly relationships. It works for good governance, cost-effective management, and good communications. It seeks to add to the reputation of BW as a good place to live.

The Executive Committee is elected annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Membership cards entitle members to discounts in some hospitality businesses and social admission to the David Lloyd Club on site.

BWRG supports and collaborates in social activities, public celebrations, supports businesses on site. BWRG works with Burton Waters Management Limited (BWML) to provide this website, and links us to the Parish Council.

Please join and get involved in the work of the Group or the Committee if you want to do so. To do its job well BWRG needs a wide and inclusive membership who express their constructive views at the AGM and in between.

If you know of someone who you think would benefit from joining, we urge you to point them in our direction.  All we ask for is their contact details so that we can keep everyone informed, either via this website or by emailed events and the Newsletter.

Why Do We Need An RTA?

Properties within Burton Waters are leasehold and subject to an annual service charge set by BWML, our Management Company. The RTA is a formal arrangement set up by the Government to ensure that the interests of leaseholders are represented.

RTAs are given powers and responsibilities to do so under leaseholder legislation. The elected executive committee of BWRG performs this function in a variety of ways. Most importantly, the BWRG Committee have regular, scheduled meetings with the full Management Team. They discuss all aspects of the management of the estate and the budget for our Annual Service Charge. BWRG Committee members also meet regularly with the Moorings Company which maintains the Marina and moorings.

It is important to stress that BWRG maintains a good working relationship with the Management Team whilst being a critical friend. It is vitally important that BWRG remains strong in both the size of its membership and the number and skills of those volunteers that make up our Executive Committee.

The Constitution, Committee Handbook, Welcome Pack  and Newsletters are attached below. Minutes of the AGM and the Annual Report are sent to members by email.
